The Shrine of the Queen of the Most Holy Rosary

Malajog's Queen of the Most Holy Rosary shrine is a place of reflection and meditation. A 22-foot-tall figure of the Blessed Mother bearing her most precious "Child Jesus" graces the shrine. The 14 stations of the cross, the nativity scene portraying Jesus' birth, resurrection, and ascension, as well as two archangels complete the depiction on which you can reflect on Christ's journey to the crucifixion, his sacrificial death on the cross for the redemption of all mankind.

Saints Peter and Paul Cathedral

Saints Peter and Paul Cathedral

With its distinctive dome and tower, the Saints Peter and Paul Cathedral in Calbayog is the most significant structure in the city. It was built in the 1800s. The foundation of the church was laid

by the parish priest of Calbayog in 1835, Fr. Jose Gomez of  Huerce, Spain. The 2.4 meters  stone brick formed the walls. The surfaces of the walls were decorated with mosaic and geometric

patterns, while the dome and the ceiling were adorned with the images of Sts. Peter and Paul, the Evangelists and the Apostles. The aforementioned paintings and artwork were created by renowned

Iloilo painter Señor Respall and local artist Señor Cirilo Buenaventura.
